Brett Maxie
Founder of BearPeak Health and Wellness | Holistic Health and Wellness Coach | Certified Personal Trainer | Nutritionist
Facilitator, speaker, men’s-group leader, community program developer, and Indigenous wellness and leadership advocate.

From Survival to Service
Brett’s path has included addiction, gang involvement, violence, incarceration, trauma, unhealthy living, and years of trying to find a better direction. Lasting change began when he started examining the complete human foundation beneath his choices: physical health, emotional regulation, identity, culture, environment, relationships, discipline, purpose, and service.
As his health and direction changed, Brett began turning what he was learning into practical systems that could help others. BearPeak grew from that transformation and from his belief that people should have access to understandable tools for rebuilding their lives without shame, humiliation, or fear-based messaging.
His lived experience does not stand alone. Brett has continued strengthening it through formal education, professional certifications, extensive independent learning, hands-on coaching, community leadership, and direct program delivery.
Why BearPeak Was Created
BearPeak Health and Wellness was created after Brett saw how many people—especially men and youth—were struggling without structure, belonging, healthy coping strategies, positive leadership, or accessible places to begin rebuilding.
He also recognized that many programs address one problem at a time without supporting the complete person underneath it. Physical health, emotional regulation, identity, relationships, environment, daily habits, purpose, culture, and future direction are deeply connected.
BearPeak helps individuals and organizations understand those connections and turn them into practical pathways forward. The goal is not to offer one solution for everyone. The goal is to help people strengthen the foundations that influence their health, choices, relationships, leadership, and future.
About Brett Maxie
Brett Maxie is a Cree and Nakota father from White Bear First Nations, Saskatchewan. He is the founder of BearPeak Health and Wellness and works as a holistic health and wellness coach, certified personal trainer, nutritionist, facilitator, speaker, men’s-group leader, and community program developer.
His work brings together lived experience, cultural identity, physical training, holistic wellness education, addiction and recovery knowledge, leadership development, practical life skills, and community-based programming. Brett works with individuals, youth, men, families, First Nations, schools, community organizations, employers, and service providers seeking meaningful and practical approaches to health, prevention, leadership, and personal development.

Skills for Everyday Life
BearPeak turns wellness knowledge into practical life skills. The purpose is not simply to give people information or temporary motivation. Participants learn realistic skills they can practise in everyday life and carry into their homes, relationships, workplaces, families, and communities.
These skills are presented in clear and understandable ways so participants can connect wellness principles to real decisions, responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities.
A Whole-Person Approach
The BearPeak approach combines evidence-informed wellness education, practical coaching, lived experience, culturally grounded learning, physical activity, reflection, accountability, and real-life application.
Depending on the audience and program, this approach may include whole-food nutrition, strength and movement, sleep and recovery, breathwork, meditation, nervous-system regulation, cold exposure, healthy environments, communication, cultural connection, land-based learning, personal responsibility, leadership, and service.
BearPeak’s work is educational and developmental. It is intended to complement—not replace—appropriate medical care, mental-health services, addiction treatment, cultural guidance, or other regulated professional support.

These experiences continue to shape BearPeak’s program development and delivery.
